Kuala Lumpur: CIMB-Principal Asset Management Berhad has received approval from Securities Commission to further increase the fund size for its CIMB Islamic DALI Equity Theme Fund to a total of 2.2 billion units from 2 billion units previously.
Chief Executive Officer, J. Campbell Tupling said: “The local market has shown a considerable amount of resilience especially with the government stimulus packages which has helped to cushion the impact of the global economic turmoil. To date, the Fund size has been increased four times to meet overwhelming demand. ”
CIMB Wealth Advisors, the major distributor of CIMB Islamic DALI Equity Theme Fund, notes that the good demand for the Fund is due to its sector diversification. The Fund seeks to provide investors with medium to long term capital appreciation by investing in Malaysian securities according to prevailing investment themes. It currently favours the Oil & Gas and Manufacturing sector.

CIMB-Principal has also declared its first income distribution for the CIMB-Principal Equity Fund 2 as at 30 September 2009, with a gross distribution of 5.00sen per unit amounting to a distribution yield of 6.41%.
In tandem with its objective to achieve maximum capital appreciation over the long term through all types of investments, the Fund has outperformed its benchmark, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia Top 100 Index and registered a cumulative return of 117.77% since it was first launched in September 1995.
With a fund size of RM191.51 million*, the Fund invests in some prominent stocks include the Banking, Plantations and Construction industry.
CIMB-Principal Equity Growth Fund on the other hand also gave a gross distribution of 5.00 sen per unit, or a distribution yield of 10.49%. This Fund provides investors with long term capital growth by investing principally in a diversified portfolio of equities with some foreign exposure.
