Kuala Lumpur: CWA today formalised a strategic alliance with as-Salihin Trustee Berhad (“as-Salihin”), making it as-Salihin’s largest multi-product distributor to offer a range of innovative Islamic estate planning services.

The agreement was signed by Tan Beng Wah, Chief Executive Officer of CWA and Tuan Haji Abdul Aziz Peru Mohamed, Chief Executive Officer of as-Salihin Trustee Berhad.

Tan Beng Wah, in welcoming as-Salihin as a partner said, “Seeing the importance of providing Islamic estate planning services to our Muslim clients, it was a natural progression for us to form an alliance with a reputable Islamic estate planning trust company. This collaboration completes our Wealth Preservation offerings, as we can now offer both conventional and Islamic estate planning solutions. We believe this will enhance customer experience and create greater customer loyalty.”

The new partnership now enables over 4,300 CWA agents and financial planners to serve investors better by offering a wide range of Islamic estate planning services such as will-writing (Wasiat), declaration of gift (deklarasi hibah),  declaration of jointly acquired property (deklarasi harta sepencarian), appointment of executor (perlantikan wasi), and estate administration (pentadbiran harta pusaka). These instruments will facilitate investors in planning, distributing and managing wealth in accordance with Shariah and civil law.

The alliance also opens doors for as-Salihin as they are now able to leverage on CWA’s large agency force to distribute their products.

“Currently, only a few local banks and approximately 1,500 of as-Salihin’s Islamic Estate Planners distribute our products. We are thankful and excited to work with CWA on such a large scale and we hope that this is not just a one-off collaboration but is an avenue for many more successful projects for both parties. With the support of CWA, we are confident that our goal to provide Shariah-compliant products and services will be achieved,” said Tuan Haji Abdul Aziz.

CWA is well known for its success in the area of wealth management and unit trust investments while as-Salihin’s strength is in Islamic estate planning. In collaboration, they provide a full range of Islamic estate planning services and products.

At this initial stage, the estate planning solutions offered by CWA is for retail customer only, but plans are already underway to extend the solutions to companies and corporations.
